I think it's kind of obvious that I'm into Japan and anime. To be
honest, I used to not watch anime all that much as I do now lmao. Most
of them are the cute girls doing cute things / slice of life / comedy
type anime that are pretty much iconic on the internet. Maybe my
interest in anime started because I started using Arch Linux? /jk
I also watch regular TV shows or cartoons, but even less than anime, and
right now, it's just anime. I finished Young Sheldon in late 2024. I
guess I'm looking forward to more South Park episodes.
I won't mention movies cuz they're not anything special, average person
probably knows them or watched them.
Nichijou: My Ordinary Life (completed)
listen to op
Manga cover I think
Peak. A 2011 Kyoto Animation production based on the original manga
series (that is still going) by Keiichi Arawi, the goat. This is
probably my favorite anime. It's a slice of life about primarily the
main trio: Yuuko Aioi, Mio Naganohara, Mai Minakami, in their
perfectly "ordinary" highschool lives. I put ordinary in quotes cuz
it's not exactly that. If you look it up on MyAnimeList, you might
see the tag "shonen". Yeah, this anime is CRAZY.
You see, just imagine you forgot your homework and have to hold
water buckets outside the class room as a punishment, and as you
look out of the window while making up a Haiku in your head, you see
your school's principal casually wrestling a deer. Or maybe I should
mention that the anime starts with a humanoid robot called Nano
Shinonome trying to get the fish a random street cat took from your
household, and then running into a wall and exploding, causing a
bunch of household items to fly across the city and hit Yuuko's face
while she's outside with Mio. Shit's fucking hilarious and bizzare.
And it has such a simple artstyle, that is until they literally put
their entire budget into an animation of Mio chasing Yuuko to get
her notebook back after she remembered that she forgot to erase the
Yaoi of her crush that she drew in after doing the homework. Lmfao.
If you want a better explanation, check outthis video
Despite the craziness, they still manage to fit wholesome content
into it, primarily thank's to the Shinonome household, so Nano,
Hakase (8 year old professor that built Nano) and Sakamoto (Black
cat that can talk with a necklace that Hakase made).
Unfortunately, the anime only had 1 season, so to see
more, I had to pick up the manga.

Bocchi literally might be me. Another slice of life, that started in
2022 and it has been confirmed that Season 2 is coming! Yayyy :D
It's about Hitori Gotoh, a girl that wants to become a rock star.
There's one problem tho: she has social anxiety and confidence issues.
(just like me fr)
She praticed the guitar in her own room for some time and started a
YouTube channel where she would pseudo-anonymously make song covers
and got a lot of praise for it. Of course, nobody knows what her name
is or that it's her.
One day, another girl named Nijika sees her and asked her if she would
like to join their band, kessoku band. Without an answer from Bocchi
(that's Hitori's nickname from jap. "hitoribocchi" = alone), Nijika
brings her to STARRY (the live house) and Bocchi decides to play
along. Then we get to watch Bocchi's journey of becoming a star like
she always wanted.
It also has some quite funny scenes, and unlike Nichijou which seems
almost entirely random, it has more plot.
Definetely an interesting watch, and I'm looking forward to the next
season. Don't want to pick up the manga, I'd rather wait for the anime
to continue.

Decided to start this one in Wolfsburg for the Piscine at 42
Wolfsburg, used the hotel TV for it. This one is about the struggle of
Tatsuhiro Satou, a japanese hikikomori, which is basically someone
secluded from society and that almost never leaves their home, because
of an inability to adapt to society. But then a girl named Misaki
Nakahara finds him and decides to help him out of his hikikomori ways
through her "project".
And then there's Yamazaki. Kaoru
Yamazaki is Satou's kouhai from high school, who just happens to live
in the apartment right next door. He's a massive otaku studying at an
anime school, and he blasts anime openings so loud that Satou can hear
them through the wall lmao. The first few episodes is just Satou
crashing out because of the constant "purupuru pururin~" until he
decides to do something about it. That's how Satou discovers that
Yamazaki was his neighbor. Once the two of them meet again, Yamazaki
drags Satou into making a video game together, and this somehow turns
into one of the funniest parts of the show. His friendship with Satou
is honestly one of the best parts of the whole anime.
My
main source of interest is it being referenced in my favorite album
(if you read through this whole website, you should know), as well as
OMORI being media talking about similar topics.
This anime
tackles serious issues and does so in a realistic manner, yet is also
extremely funny in the beginning, such an emotional rollercoaster. The
interactions between the characters are amazing. What fascinates me
the most is that the author, Tatsuhiko Takimoto, was actually writing
this peak while living as a hikikomori himself, which I have to
respect, he handled it pretty well considering he also related to the
same problems. I myself can say that I could relate to Satou more than
once. Living in the hotel was pretty lonely so it felt quite surreal.
I highly recommend watching this work of art if you haven't, but be
warned that it does contain serious themes (self-harm) and some scenes
have nudity in them. It might also be off-putting to non-anime
watchers initially because of something Satou get's into in the first
few episodes but trust me, stick to it, it's worth it.

Shinji, crank that soulja boy. Lmao. But seriously tho, this anime is
peak.
It's about Shinji Ikari, a 14 year old boy who gets called to the city
of Tokyo-3 by his father Gendo, who he hasn't seen in years. Turns out
his dad didn't call him there to reconnect or anything, he wants him
to pilot a giant robot thing called an Evangelion (EVA for short) to
fight these huge mysterious monsters called Angels that keep attacking
the city. Along the way we meet Rei, the quiet and mysterious pilot of
EVA-00, Asuka, the loud and cocky sorta tsundere pilot of EVA-02 who
calls Shinji "baka" every chance she gets (my favorite), and Misato,
the NERV officer who takes Shinji in and lives off beer and instant
food, and all the boys at Shinji's school are obsessed with her for
some reason.
On the surface it looks like your typical mecha anime with robots
fighting monsters, but it really isn't. The longer it goes, the more
it turns into a show about depression, loneliness and being afraid of
getting hurt by other people. Shinji doesn't want to pilot the EVA, he
runs away from things, and he hates himself for it, which is honestly
pretty relatable. Kinda reminds me of Sunny from OMORI in that way.
And then the last two episodes happen. Without spoiling anything, they
are VERY different from the rest of the show and it makes sense that
people were confused back then, even I cannot fully comprehend what I
have watched yet. If you finish the series, watch The End of
Evangelion movie afterwards, trust me.

If you watched Bocchi the Rock, this is what probably inspired it! A
slice of life music anime with awesome songs (especially the opening
and ending songs) with cute girls in their music club trying to form a
band. Very wholesome and funny, I haven't watched enough of it yet to
say more but it seems peak so far. Yui is the silly billy airhead
protagonist that adores her shiny guitar, Mio the bassist who appears
put together on first sight but is actually a massive scaredy-cat,
Ritsu the drummer, who's basically the OMORI KEL of K-On! who seems to
tease Mio every second she can and finally Tsumugi, or as they call
her Mugi-chan, the keyboard girl.
The club members, although there's another character I haven't
seen yet, I'm not very far into it.

Another internet hood classic, it's from 2002 (it's older than me
damn). Azumanga Daioh is a slice of life about high school girls life
(again), a single season again just like Nichijou. The main difference
is that Azumanga Daioh is more normal and once you understand what all
the characters do, not as random, but still is funny asf.
Maybe you know the scene where that yellow cat (Chiyo's
father) appeared outside of that window and then said "Hello
everynyan! How are you? Fine thank you." and then a girl (Osaka)
answers with "Omagah!".
Yeah, that's Azumanga Daioh. It's humor was ahead of it's time, and
despite being so old, the community continues to grow.
Honestly I only watched to see what the osaker doin? I didn't pay much
attention to the other characters so I can't say much. I doubt that
you never watched this series. In fact, you can find it on YouTube,
all 24 episodes! So if you want to watch memes in form of a slice of
life anime, here ya go I guess.
Arawi Keiichi strikes yet again. Kyoto Animations made an anime out of
CITY, Arawii's second manga.
Basically it's got the same absurd sillyness but it's older
characters, and they're trying to get money cuz they need it.
I felt like I watching Nichijou all over again. And the animation
budget was used pretty well i'd say. It's shorter than Nichijou, but
still a good watch.
Present day... present time .. AHAHAHAHAHHA-
Lain was something else.. really. Unlike usual, this isn't a slice of
life but rather a Sci-Fi imagination of how the world would be
influcenced by the evolving Internet technology.
A lot of strange things happen in that anime. It has a very weird
liminal feeling to it, which I'm digging a lot.
I find it fascinating how many things this 1998 anime predicted
somewhat accurately, it's depressing. I also love all the old UNIX and
MacOS references. That To Be Continued pun with the Be company logo
was pretty funny. My nerdy brain liked it, even tho it's hard to wrap
your head around it sometimes. I'm still thinking about it.
I also really love the intro song: And you dont seem to
understaaaand.. a shame you seemed an honest maaan, and all the things
you hold so deaar, will turn to whisper in your eeaarr.. you know how
it goes I hope. If not, it's Duvet by Boa, I can't do the special
characters for their name.
I'm still watching, but it's just a regular otaku oriented slice of
life anime. Nothing crazy, it's just normal Japanese humor.
You might have seen Konata in these webcore edits with that Bailando
Bailando song. I mainly decided to watch it because it's an old anime
internet classic. I'm bored is the second reason.
KagamiThe gang (except Miyuki is missing noo)Timotei!:3
I think we all know about this one. A spin-off of The Big Bang Theory,
where we get to watch Young Sheldon Lee Cooper's life.
I finished it as soon as the last episode was released. It was pretty
good, despite the fact I never watched the big bang theory itself, it
was pretty entertaining and definetely worth my time.
Just like Family Guy (which I did watch some of) and the Simpsons,
South Park is great "humor for adults". I love how they don't shy away
from making fun of politics and stuff like that. It's also a great way
to pass the time and have a good laugh.
Some select episodes I am not a fan of, because they took things too
far, if you know what I mean. Not cool.
It's been a long time since they dropped a season, but I'm looking
forward to the next one.
They dropped peak .. it's peak!
